Meet The Builders

Building the perfect family home is the American Dream. Marble countertops, custom closets, fireplace (or no fireplace), hardwood floors, and giant bathtubs are some of the common requests families have when they trust and hire a builder to fulfill their dreams. Finding a reputable company that goes above and beyond for each of its clients is a must. Elizabethtown is home to many building companies, all wonderful in their own ways. Four local family-owned building businesses stand out due to their dedication to clients and for the quality of work they provide. You may be familiar with the businesses themselves, but do you know much about the family members that have dedicated their lives to helping others create their dream home? It is time to meet the builders!

Clay and Mary Smith’s building journey began with the purchase of a foreclosed home that they remodeled. It sparked a passion in both of them to continue the work they fell in love with. Smith Family Homes opened its doors in April 2005. Parents of six children, Clay and Mary have always been very family-oriented, and you will find some of their children involved daily. They love to relax as a family at Dale Hollow Lake enjoying the water. In business, both Clay and Mary are active with clients from the start of a project to the finish. A benefit of working with them is the fact that a client will have two sounding boards, two different perspectives, which is incredibly valuable during the decision-making process. Smith Family Homes is known for its above-grade methods. Each SFH home includes foam insulation, 2x6 exterior walls, and ensure building methods that allow homeowners to enjoy low utility bills in their new homes. A home is so much more than a house—it’s where memories are built! The Smiths build high-quality homes that will stand the test of time, sturdy walls where family photos will hang, and spacious kitchens big enough for everyone to gather ‘round at the holidays. They take the job that they’ve been entrusted with seriously, and it shows in every home the Smiths build.

Will Harris has been building homes since 2005, over 16 years building their legacy, a future family business. Will and his wife Heather have five children ranging from fifteen to two: Emma, Michael, Houston, Lincoln, and Sawyer. When not tied up with building projects in and around Etown, you might find the Harrises watching a game—volleyball with Emma at Central, basketball, baseball, and football at LaRue County for Michael, or at a league game as all boys play all three sports. The Harrises love trips to the beach; they take vacations as a family to their condo in Pensacola Beach, Florida, every chance they get. Will is best known for custom homes and building luxury in Hardin County. The experienced team can build diverse homes in a wide range of styles: Neocolonial, mountain modern, modern farmhouse, Scandinavian—you name it. The company prides itself on being up-to-date on current housing market trends and bringing unprecedented style and craftsmanship to the local scene. When Will Harris Homes parts ways with customers, they have built not only a home but an authentic friendship. Grabbing lunch with past clients is a common practice, and new homeowners often swing by with goodies for the Will Harris team. Communication is constant, paramount for the company to manage expectations and to over-deliver every time. Progress walkthroughs guarantee that the final product is precisely what the homeowners want. Location is everything, and in addition to building the perfect home, the Will Harris team can help future homeowners find the perfect lot. Subdivisions Will has developed include the prestigious Magnolia Farms, Briarwood Reserve, and Still Meadow Estates, plus the Courtyard at Robinbrooke.

Paul Brantingham began Brantingham Builders over 40 years ago, and has worked extremely hard over the years to achieve the level of Master Builder. Paul’s children, Michael Brantingham and Rachel Brantingham are equally as passionate as their father when it comes to providing beautiful, quality, energy efficient homes. Both Rachel and Michael grew up in the industry. Rachel is honored to be a part of the beautiful development of Elizabethtown and values the relationships she develops with her clients. To her, they become family. Michael takes great pride in creating something of value in the community and loves that he can help make people’s dreams come true in the process. Paul is the father of seven children, and most of them are related to the construction industry in some way. As a family they enjoy golfing, spending time on the lake (they prefer Nolin), and spending time together and enjoying each other’s company. Brantingham Builders not only build beautiful homes, they help their clients to find a lot, set a budget without compromising their dreams, and provide lifetime support. They value the relationships they’ve built with their clients and the community and are excited about continuing the work that they love so much.
