Small Business Saturday: Saturday, November 30, 2019

Everyone knows about Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but are you up with the times on Small Business Saturday? Arguably the most important of the American shopping holidays, Small Business Saturday takes place the Saturday after Thanksgiving—Saturday, November 30 this year. The Saturday, November 30 date was officially declared by Mayor Gregory on Monday, November 25 at 9:00am at the Heritage Council and we are proud to live in a community so excited to support small businesses. A little bit of history: The Small Business Saturday campaign was launched by American Express in order to help small businesses across the nation gain exposure. The idea was to change the way consumers shop within their own neighborhoods throughout the holiday season to help small Mom-and-Pop businesses grow and compete with bigger box stores.

How can you join in on the festivities? Shop small and shop local this Christmas. The mission behind Elizabethtown Lifestyle is to showcase the very best Hardin County has to offer. We are a small business supporting small businesses and we have pulled together a list of ways you can support the locals. These are the businesses who support local sports teams, school fundraisers and charities, those who give back to the community. This is your chance to support them.

Shop small and shop local this Christmas. The mission behind Elizabethtown Lifestyle is to showcase the very best Hardin County has to offer. We are a small business supporting small businesses and we have pulled together a list of ways you can support the locals.

First, when purchasing Christmas gifts, shop at local boutiques! Swanky Shoppe, Raiment + Boon, Denizen, To the Nines, The Mud Honey’s, The Black Sheep General Store, Walker Lane and Ali’s Bubblegum Boutique are some of our favorites Downtown. For your favorite athlete, Running Soles has the perfect fit. Following local social media accounts will let you know who is offering holiday specials on Small Business Saturday and all season long, so get connected!

Think gift cards! Gift cards are perfect for the friend or family member who you never know what to buy. Most boutiques offer gift cards/certificates, but so do businesses such as Vibe Coffee, Natural Theraputics Massage, Karma Yoga Studio, Clagett Photography and ETown Wax & Lash Bar.

Lastly, dine Downtown. Whether you’re going out for drinks or grabbing a quick meal, choose to eat and drink at a locally-owned establishment. Some of our faves are Roxie’s, Impellizzeri’s Pizza, The Wicked Eye Woman, Vibe Coffee, Herb & Olive Market, Bourbon Barrel Tavern and Flywheel Brewing.
